The Communications Department

As the City of Excellence, we strive to foster a strong connection between our government and our community. We use both modern and traditional channels to maintain our commitment to transparency and encourage engagement with residents and visitors alike. Our goal is to provide accessible avenues for obtaining information about services, events, and resources in the City of Aventura. 

Responsibilities 

The City of Aventura’s Communications Department oversees all official digital and print communications. The in-house team manages the City’s website, branding/identity, photography, and graphic design, while an external contractor provides services such as special events, project updates, emergency and traffic notifications, public relations, media coverage, and video production. 


Digital Outreach

Website

The official website for the City of Aventura is home to all City-related information regarding local government, resources, forms, and other online services. The website also features helpful tools, including detailed information on Aventura’s parks and facilities and a complete staff directory. 

To mark the City’s 30th anniversary, our Communications team partnered with the City Manager’s Office, Civics Plus, and all departments to launch a redesigned website. The result is a streamlined, user-friendly platform where residents and visitors can easily find services, permits, and event information. Our in-house team also ensures the website stays current with regular updates, including Commission Meeting agendas and recaps, calendar items, traffic advisories, and department information.

Digital Media 


Photography

A curated selection of images is shared on social media, while a full archive dating back to early 2023 is available on the City of Aventura’s official Flickr page. Photography from Commission meetings is also cataloged and accessible there. 

Graphic Design

All graphic design distributed through the City’s official accounts and facilities is produced internally. This includes marketing and promotional materials for city-sponsored events and programs.  

Digital Street Signs

For drivers and pedestrians, digital street signs provide timely updates about upcoming shows at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, as well as City and Charter School events. Signs are located at the north entrance of Aventura Mall on Biscayne Boulevard and at NE 188th Street and NE 29th Avenue. The Arts & Cultural Center and both Charter Schools create their own digital and printed materials for individual performances and events.  

In 2025, the city also introduced 15 interactive digital kiosks across Aventura. These kiosks provide residents and visitors with wayfinding, city information, emergency alerts, and even takes selfies, all while generating revenue for the city through advertisements.   

Videography & Media Management

Video production and public relations are managed through the City’s contracted partner, the Public Communicators Group. This firm produces all video content featured on the City’s social media channels and AVTV, Aventura’s public access channel.

Content is produced through a combination of in-house and contracted resources, giving the City both office-based and field-based coverage. Internal staff provide photography and graphic design, while video content is created by the City’s external partner. 

Social Media Policy

The City of Aventura is committed to keeping residents and visitors informed about essential services, upcoming events, and community highlights, while also showcasing the vibrant activities that make the City of Excellence unique. To maintain a safe and respectful online presence, all City social media accounts operate under established guidelines. The City reserves the right to remove or restrict content or users that do not comply with these standards.
