Commissioner Sally A. Heyman Announces 2021 Cycle of Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program

Small business owners in Miami-Dade's District 4 are invited to apply for Commissioner Sally Heyman's Annual Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Applications will be accepted February 1 through February 19, 2021.

Enrollment is Open for ACES and DSAHS 2021-2022

Open Enrollment for the 2021-22 school year is open for Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES) and Don Soffer Aventura High School (DSAHS) and runs through Friday, February 12, 2021.

All applications submitted within the Open Enrollment period will have an equal opportunity for admission, regardless of whether they are submitted on the first day or the last day of Open Enrollment. Applications will be accepted for all grade levels.

Secure Receptacle at Government Center Provides Safe Disposal of Unwanted or Expired Medications

The City of Aventura is providing a secured medication disposal system located at the Government Center. This easy to operate system accepts unwanted or expired prescribed and over-the-counter medicines.

2020 Annual Progress Report on Local Mitigation Strategy Projects

Aventura adopted the Miami-Dade County Local Mitigation Strategy as its Floodplain Management Plan. The Strategy contains a list of the City’s flood mitigation projects. The report is the annual update of progress on these projects.

The progress report is posted below and on the City's Flood Protection webpage.  The full text of the Local Mitigation Strategy is available online on Miami-Dade County's website at miamidade.gov/fire/mitigation.asp.
