Vision Zero
City of Aventura's Vision Zero: Safe Streets and Roads for All
What is Vision Zero?
Aventura is proud to be amongst the 1,000 municipalities throughout the United States participating in Vision Zero, a bold, nationwide initiative aiming to reduce traffic fatalities and severe injuries to ZERO by the Year 2030 - while ensuring safe, equitable mobility for all. Rooted in the belief that no loss of life is acceptable on our roads, Vision Zero focuses on safer street design, lower speed limits, smarter enforcement, and community-driven education. Aventura joints hundred of other communities nationwide aiming to make our streets safer for all.
Why It Matters
Every year, preventable crashes affect our residents - especially seniors, children, cyclists, and pedestrians. Vision Zero is a proactive strategy to make our streets safer for everyone, no matter how they travel our roads and sidewalks in our city.
What We Are Doing
- Street Improvements: Evaluating high-crash intersections and areas of the city to identify improvement opportunities, such as adding sidewalks, bike lanes, etc.
- Speed Management: Identifying safer speed limits throughout the City's neighborhoods and schools.
- Education Campaigns: Launching VISION ZERO public meetings and upcoming workshops and incorporating traffic safety within our schools' and community center programming.
- Date-Driven Action: Using crash and traffic date to target the most dangerous areas first.
- Enforcement Collaboration: Partnering with Aventura Police for fair, safety-focused traffic enforcement.
