Camps & Teacher Planning Day Programs

Wondering what to do when school is out? Register for one of Aventura's many programs during school breaks including teacher planning days, winter camp, spring camp and the 10-week summer camp program.


Registration for Teacher Planning Day (TPD) programs and camps can be completed online using the City of Aventura's Online Registration System (ORS), or in person at the Community Recreation Center, Founders Park, or Waterways Park.

Please be advised that an Aventura ID card is required to register using the ORS. Get details about obtaining an Aventura ID card.

Teacher Planning Day (TPD) Program

When school is not in session due to Teacher Planning Days, the City offers a day of fun-filled activities for children ages 5-14 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Aventura Community Recreation Center.


Each program fee includes all activities, supplies and lunch at a rate of $43 for residents and $52 for non-residents.


  • *Outta this World! on Friday, January 19, 2018 – Campers explore galaxies, get lost in space and discover life beyond planet Earth.
  • Makin’ Sense of Things on Friday, March 23, 2018 – Campers explore their five senses through sensory activities and crafts.
  • *Goin’ Green on Friday, April 20, 2018 – Campers learn various ways to reuse supplies to help protect the environment on Earth Day!
  • Carnaval on Friday, June 8, 2018 – Campers celebrate the beginning of summer by discovering what makes the Carnaval festival one of the most kaleidoscopic celebrations in the world!

*Note: The January 19th and April 20th dates do not follow Miami-Dade County Public School’s updated academic calendar, which excludes these days as Teacher Planning Days. Therefore, the TPD on those dates are available to only students whose school is not in session.

Summer Campflyer-summer-camp--NEWS-FLASH

Campers ages 5-14 have the opportunity to spend the summer participating in a variety of fun onsite activities, field trips, playing outdoor/indoor games, and making new friends. The City of Aventura Community Services Department will be operating camps at the Community Recreation Center located at 3375 NE 188 Street, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.  – 6:00 p.m. The following camp programs are offered:

  • Summer Camp (Ages 5-14): Campers enjoy arts & crafts, games, sports, special events, field trips, and swimming (for select ages).
    June 11 - August 17
    Weekly Fee: $170
  • Sports Camp (Ages 7-14): Campers choose a sport to participate in such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, or cheerleading/dance.
    June 11 - August 10
    Weekly Fee: $203
  • Art Camp (Ages 5-13): Campers learn about artists, media and techniques through art history and multicultural appreciation in a fun and educational environment.
    June 11 – June 29
    July 9 – July 27
    Weekly Fee: $235
  • Travel Camp (Ages 10-14): Campers participate in daily field trips to local attractions as well as swimming, games, arts & crafts, and special events.
    June 11 - August 10
    Weekly Fee: $250
  • Sci-Tech Camp (Ages 7-12): Campers explore interconnectedness between science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) while their creativity and problem-solving skills get challenged.
    June 11 – June 29
    July 9 – July 27
    Weekly Fee: $240


Registration for Summer Camps can be completed online at, the City’s Online Registration System (ORS) or at any of the following facilities: (New registrations are accepted in person only.)

Camps fill quickly, so registration is limited and must be completed by 3:00 p.m. on the Friday before each selected week. The early bird discount has been extended to Monday, April 30, 2018!  An Early bird discount of 15% will be applied to all camp weeks paid for prior to Monday, April 30, 2018.
