Services of Excellence

The Community Services Department is responsible for ensuring that all services, parks and facilities, programs, and activities reflect the City’s dedication to excellence by providing responsive, cost-effective and innovative local government services as stated in the City’s Mission Statement.


The Administrative Division is responsible for:

  • Responding to all citizen concerns within 24 hours
  • Providing oversight of the City’s bike share program, Aventura BCycle
  • Overall operations of Parks and Recreation

Parks & Recreation Division

The Parks and Recreation Division is responsible for the operation of Community Recreation Center and all City Parks and facilities, which include:

  • Founders Park
  • Founders Park SplashPad
  • Peace Park
  • Waterways Park
  • Waterways Dog Park
  • Veterans Park

Parks and Rec provides a wide variety of recreation services and athletic leagues for children and adults, tennis and fitness programs, recreation activities, and classes at City Parks and the Community Recreation Center.


The City offers:

  • Winter, spring and summer camps
  • Teacher planning day programs
  • City-wide special events fostering community spirit and pride such as
    • Founders Day
    • Arbor Day
    • Veterans Day
    • Halloween
    • Bike Ride with Aventura Police
    • Movie Night
    • 4th of July Fireworks

In addition, the City also offers senior programming such as:

  • Trips to local theater, museums, historical points of interest and dining
  • Zumba
  • Mah jongg
  • Bridge
  • A host of other social and active programs for seniors
